La Chaux-de-Fonds

"We entered the Canton of Neuchâtel at the foot of La Ferrière, and then we began to climb via La Chaux-de-Fonds up to Pouillerel at 1,275 m, with a superb panorama over the town and neighboring France. A long and beautiful downhill run to Les Brenets gave us views of the river Doubs and its waterfall. Then we climbed back up to Som Martel (the "summit of the marshes") where we enjoyed a panoramic view that is typical of the Jura countryside. We sped past meadows, hills and forests, finally descending into the Val de Travers. The last climb is fairly easy at first but then becomes more arduous; however, it passes through the most beautiful scenery in the region, the Creux du Van and a panoramic vista of the Swiss Plateau and the Alps. We took one last glance from La Baronne and then headed for Sainte-Croix. "
