Asphalt mines

"With helmets on and torches in hand, we know we’re protected as we set off to discover all the dangers and hazards of the miner’s work: underground, the walls still resonate with the hard labour of the men and horses who spent their days there. We plunge into the entrails of the mountain, where the warm commentary of our guide makes up for the 6°C that permanently reins there. Kids are fascinated by this dark realm that endlessly stimulates their imagination: “I tell you, it was a REAL fairy who served us drinks!” A voyage to the source of the asphalt that still covers some of the streets in London, Paris and New York today. After the tour, it’s back to more epicurean concerns: ham cooked in asphalt has a mouth-watering aroma!"
